I saw one reviewer didn't like the size and I admit it is very small but looking at all the other pot lifters they all appear to be the same length. I don't think this is meant to be used on a great big camp fire but works great on a small stove or a camp fire with a mesh top. None of the pot lifters I saw were long enough to stick into a blazing hot camp fire.I used this with a kitchen stove and an Esbit stove and it held up great it is lightweight never got hot and held my pots without any issue. Bought this at a local Hike/Bike supply, and have been mightily impressed. I really liked the feel, weight (1.9 oz!!) and it gripped my different sized pots all really well. Aluminum cools quickly so I haven't had issues with burning my hands, if I thought the fire would get me I'd wrap my hand in a bandanna and swoop in to remove the pot. You don't leave the gripper on the pot while it boils that would be silly (or a good way to get a cool hole patterned burn mark on your palm). The storage pouch doubles as a pack towel which dries quickly and can be used to wash yourself like a loofah when sticking your fingers into the pouch, it also protects pots from scratching against the gripper's semi sharp edges. Great pot lifter, much better than other ones I tested out. |
