The actual pump assembly has had very little use over the years, so I didn't want to replace the entire device. The Guide replacement filter functions perfectly. The enclosed mesh screen definitely helps prolong the life of the cartridge by pre-filtering some of the particulate. The instructions included were very easy to follow, and installing the new cartridge posed no problems. Be sure to pump water through the filter for a minute or so after installing to prime the cartridge. The water will appear black for the first few pumps, but will be perfectly clear after about 20 seconds of pumping.A must buy if you have a PUR Scout, or Katadyn Guide that needs a new filter cartridge. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Getting harder to find..., By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Katadyn Guide Replacement Cartridge (Sports) This filter element is getting harder to find and I'm grateful to get this replacement. The entire filter is excellent with a high flow rate and very reliable function. I have not used any other filters in recent years, so have no basis for comparison, but this filter seems to clog quickly when pumping seemingly clean water so that it gets hard to pump. This makes pumping a lot of work and slows it down. This filter belongs to our Scout Troop. I'll try a different filter when I buy one for myself. |
