4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Knife, January 15, 2011

This is a very nice field and camp knife. I don't think you can do much better for the price. It's very sturdy and quite sharp out of the package. It's grips are comfortable to hold and not slippery at all, but they are a bit slim if you have big hands. The only real downside is the sheath, but it is functional, and for the price it's about right. This is not a Becker or SOG or Cold Steel, but I wouldn't be so afraid to lose this one in the woods, either. I definitely recommend this knife to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars This knife is inexpensive but is a good value, April 13, 2012
This review is from: Gerber 22-01589 Big Rock Camp Knife (Tools & Home Improvement)
I got this knife as a part of my emergency preparedness supplies. The knife is very well made and quite stout. It is not too big in the had and is easy to control. The sheath is nothing special but it is very light and non threatening looking which is good if you are trying to be low profile. The knife is at home in the kitchen as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome knife sheath sucks., December 30, 2011

The knife is everything gerber says. The handle scales are a little thin but they are grippy and I wrapped mine with black 550 cord which makes it a perfect fit to my medium size 7 1/2 hands. The blade is well cunstructed with a nice wide profile so it slices things like onions very thinly and with a good deal of consistancy and yet it is built with a strong drop point so it can even baton wood to start a fire and fry said onions. And if you happen to say, build a trap with your Gerber Big Rock and catch a deer? No problem, gut it, skin it, stake it, then in the pan it goes. I have both the straight blade and the serated version. I definately prefer the straight blade as the every day cary knife that lives in my back pack which goes with me everywhere. I find it easier to sharpen quickly and I usually don't go around cutting much rope. That being the case, the serrated knife lives on my pistol belt as my primary full tang fixed blade tactical knife. The serated version also... Read more
